About Whisker Haven Cat Rescue
Founded in the heart of Churchgate, Mumbai, Whisker Haven Cat Rescue has been a beacon of hope for abandoned and vulnerable felines since 2012. What began as a small neighbourhood initiative by a group of animal lovers has blossomed into one of South Mumbai's most trusted cat rescue and rehabilitation centres. Our mission is simple yet profound — to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome every cat that crosses our path, while fostering a culture of compassion and responsible pet ownership across the city.
Over the years, we have rescued more than 2,500 cats and kittens from the bustling streets of Churchgate, Colaba, Marine Lines and surrounding areas. Each rescue is a story of resilience — from severely injured strays requiring emergency surgery to orphaned kittens found without their mothers. Our state-of-the-art recovery facility provides round-the-clock veterinary care, behavioural therapy and plenty of love during the healing journey. We take pride in our transparent adoption process that ensures every cat finds a safe, caring and permanent family.
Our dedicated team of veterinarians, animal behaviourists, caregivers and community volunteers works tirelessly to address the root causes of feline homelessness. We conduct regular spay and neuter camps, vaccination drives and street feeding programs across Churchgate and neighbouring localities. Through our public awareness initiatives in schools, housing societies and corporate offices, we educate citizens about compassionate animal welfare practices, first aid for injured animals and the importance of adoption over buying.
Whisker Haven's foster care network is one of our greatest strengths. We collaborate with over 80 trained foster families who open their homes to cats recovering from surgery, orphaned kittens and senior felines who need extra attention. This community-driven approach has enabled us to expand our rescue capacity without compromising on the quality of individualised care. Every foster parent undergoes comprehensive training and receives ongoing veterinary support, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare.
As we look toward the future, our vision is to make Mumbai a zero-tolerance city for animal abandonment. We are continuously expanding our rehabilitation infrastructure, strengthening our emergency rescue response system, and building strategic partnerships with veterinary hospitals and animal welfare organisations across Maharashtra.
