Paws & Hearts Dog Rescue Foundation was born out of a simple yet powerful vision — to create a safer, kinder world for the voiceless street dogs of Digras, Maharashtra. What began as a two-person volunteer effort in 2015 has now grown into a full-fledged rescue and rehabilitation center serving the entire Yavatmal district and surrounding regions of Vidarbha.
Every day, our dedicated team of rescuers, veterinarians, and volunteers responds to distress calls about injured, abandoned, and abused dogs. From road accident victims and malnourished puppies to senior dogs left behind by their families, we open our hearts and our shelter doors to every dog in need — regardless of breed, age, or medical condition. Our facility in Digras can accommodate over 120 dogs at any given time, providing them with nutritious food, clean shelter, and compassionate care.
We believe that rescue is only the first step. Our comprehensive rehabilitation program includes complete medical evaluation, vaccination, deworming, sterilization, and behavioral training to prepare each dog for a successful adoption journey. We work closely with local veterinarians, animal welfare organizations, and government authorities across Maharashtra to ensure that every dog receives the best possible care and legal protection.
Community education and awareness form the cornerstone of our mission. We regularly conduct school programs, street plays, and neighborhood workshops in Digras and nearby towns to promote responsible pet ownership, the importance of sterilization, and the humane treatment of street animals. Our "Compassion in Action" curriculum has reached over 5,000 school children and inspired hundreds of young volunteers to join our cause.
Today, with over 150 successful rescues, 500+ happy adoptions, and a growing network of foster families, Paws & Hearts continues to expand its impact.
