About Our Studio

A Cultural Architecture Practice Rooted in Ongole, India

Heritage Vault began as a small documentation cell in Ongole, where our founders spent years measuring temple mandapams, colonial-era collectorates and community halls across Prakasam district. That field research became the foundation of a studio that now designs museums, galleries, cultural centres and interpretive spaces for public and private clients throughout India.

Our CEO leads a multidisciplinary team of architects, conservation engineers, exhibition designers, lighting specialists and interpretive writers. Every project starts with listening — to curators, to local communities, to historians — because a museum is never only a building. It is an argument about what a place chooses to remember.

Sustainability guides our material palette. We favour locally quarried stone, lime-based mortars, reclaimed teak and low-VOC finishes, reducing embodied carbon while keeping interventions reversible. This approach protects both the artefact and the architecture that shelters it, and it keeps long-term maintenance affordable for public institutions.

From feasibility studies and heritage impact assessments to detailed working drawings, gallery fit-out and post-occupancy handover, we operate as a single accountable team. Clients in Ongole, Vijayawada, Hyderabad and Chennai work with one point of contact and one shared BIM model, which eliminates the coordination gaps that typically inflate museum budgets.

Today, Heritage Vault is recognised for museums that feel calm, dignified and deeply local. We measure success not by square footage delivered, but by how long a visitor lingers in front of a single object — and how much they remember on the way home.

Interpretive and exhibition graphic design 04

Interpretive Design & Digital Storytelling

Content is where most museums lose their visitors. Our interpretive team writes layered label copy, develops narrative arcs and designs bilingual panels that work for school groups, scholars and tourists alike.

We integrate audio guides, touch kiosks, projection mapping, AR overlays and accessible tactile exhibits — all specified with maintainable hardware and open-source-friendly software.

Adaptive reuse of heritage buildings 05

Adaptive Reuse of Heritage Structures

Old collectorates, godowns, palaces and school buildings carry enormous cultural equity. We convert them into museums, libraries and cultural hubs while keeping structural interventions minimal and reversible.

Our structural and conservation engineers assess load capacity, moisture movement and material decay before any new service is routed, protecting the historic fabric from hidden damage.

Museum lighting and climate control systems 06

Artefact Lighting & Climate Control

Light and humidity are the two silent enemies of any collection. We calculate lux levels, UV exposure and annual exposure budgets for every object category, then design layered lighting that flatters without harming.

Our HVAC coordination covers temperature stability, particulate filtration, buffer zones and energy-efficient plant selection that keeps running costs predictable for public institutions.

Sculpture court and cultural landscape design 07

Sculpture Courts & Cultural Landscaping

Museum grounds are galleries without walls. We design sculpture courts, heritage walks, water bodies, shaded seating and native planting that extend the visitor experience outdoors and increase dwell time.

Our landscape packages include hardscape detailing, irrigation strategy, night-lighting design, signage wayfinding and maintenance manuals tailored to local climate conditions in Andhra Pradesh.

Testimonials

Trusted by Curators, Trusts & Collectors

What our clients across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu say about working with the Heritage Vault team.

"We had a 90-year-old godown in Ongole and no idea how to turn it into a gallery. Heritage Vault handled the structural survey, the museum layout and the lighting in one smooth process. Our trustees were genuinely impressed by the documentation quality."

Anand Krishnamurthy

"The interpretive labels they wrote for our folk-art gallery were beautiful and accurate. Visitors now spend almost twice as long inside. Their team understood our Telugu content and presented it with real dignity."

Rajeshwari Venkatesan

"Budget transparency was the biggest relief. Every variation was flagged early, and the final account matched the tender almost exactly. For a public-funded cultural centre, that level of discipline is rare."

FAQ

Questions We Hear Most From Clients

Straight answers about timelines, budgets, approvals and how we work with museums and heritage trusts.

A compact gallery of 5,000–8,000 sq ft typically takes 4 to 6 months for design and 8 to 12 months for execution. Larger cultural centres with auditoria and landscaping usually run 24 to 30 months overall. We publish a stage-wise timeline at the start so trustees always know what happens next.

Yes. Our studio is headquartered in Ongole, and we regularly deliver projects in Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru and Pune. For sites beyond 300 km we deploy a resident site engineer during execution so quality control never depends on remote supervision.

Absolutely. We prepare heritage impact statements, condition reports, measured drawings and material compatibility notes required by heritage committees and local bodies. Our documentation is formatted for first-submission approval, which significantly reduces waiting time.

We sequence works so that wet trades finish before any object enters the building. Temporary dust barriers, humidity logging, sealed storage crates and object-handling protocols are part of every fit-out contract, along with a dedicated conservator on call.

Fees are stage-based: feasibility and concept, then detailed design and tender documentation, then site supervision or turnkey delivery. You approve each stage separately, so the engagement can pause or expand according to your funding cycle without penalty.

Yes. Every handover includes as-built drawings, an operations and maintenance manual, staff training on lighting and HVAC controls, and a twelve-month defect liability period. Annual maintenance contracts are available for institutions that need ongoing technical support.
